By downloading or using Within, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Within. If you are between 13 and 18, you may use Within only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
Within is a private journaling and self-reflection app. It provides a daily question, quick and in-depth journal entries, emotion tracking, optional photo attachments, on-device voice-to-text, and AI-generated reflections and insights.
You sign in with Apple, Google, or email and password. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity under it.
You own everything you create in Within: your journal entries, reflections, emotion selections, and any photos you attach. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, sync, process, and display that content back to you so the app functions. Your content is encrypted on your device before it is stored, and we cannot read it. See our Privacy Policy for details. We do not use your content for advertising and we do not sell it.
Within uses AI to generate reflections and insights. Before analysis, personal identifiers are removed on your device, and only redacted text is sent to our AI providers, Anthropic and OpenAI. AI output is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate, and can misinterpret context. Treat it as a prompt for your own reflection, not as fact, advice, or a professional opinion. You can disable AI features or skip analysis for any entry.
Within is a self-reflection tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, therapy, counseling, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional care. Nothing in the app, including AI reflections, should be relied upon for any health or safety decision.
Within is not a crisis or emergency service and does not monitor your entries for emergencies. If you are in crisis, thinking about harming yourself, or facing a medical emergency, contact emergency services immediately. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or call 911. Elsewhere, contact your local emergency number or crisis line.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.
If Within offers paid features, all purchases, billing, renewals, and cancellations are handled by Apple and governed by Apple's terms. Any subscription renews automatically until canceled in your App Store account settings.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or relating to your use of Within will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. We will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or personal injury.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Common Practice and its affiliates, officers, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of Within, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

Informal resolution first. Before any formal proceeding, contact us at contact@seewhatswithin.com and we will try to resolve the dispute.
Arbitration. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and we agree to binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court.
You may stop using Within and delete your account at any time. Deleted entries move to Recently Deleted for 30 days before permanent removal. We may suspend or terminate access for material violations.
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will revise the effective date and notify you in-app for material changes.
California law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
